The clarion call for leadership at all levels remains a daunting task especially in developing nations with fragile democracies like Nigeria were competing dynamic factors have can change the face of governance.
In Nigeria, the challenge of leadership over the years has been a strong focal point of debate among the citizenry with regards to effective and quality representation in public office and this has in recent years made the quest for public office remain demanding as new generation leaders seek new grounds to offer new ideas that will add more value to good governance.
In 2018 with the recent release of the guidelines by the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for the next general elections, it is obvious that the road to several successions in different political offices across the country may have kick started especially with nominations coming up in August.
The defining moments in all the intrigues ahead of the nominations remains very clear that the people will surely not be taken for granted in the choice for new leaders and the different political parties realise that only the best and most credible leaders will emerge flag bearers of their different political parties at the end of the day.
That season of political intrigues finally dawns ahead of the magical election year in 2019 where new dimensions and depths of new record history across will be made and with an ever growing and increasing social media awareness, making new choices of leaders will obviously be the mainstream in the hearts of political stakeholders in sustaining the pace of political dynamics in the polity.
In Nsit Ibom State Constituency under Uyo Senatorial District, there is hope for a fresh breath of air in effective leadership at the State Constituency as the people brace up to usher a stronger renaissance in content representation when the Seventh Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly berths in June 2019 after successful conduct of the elections earlier in February.
The State Constituency politically has an effective zoning formula between the Asang and Mbiaso Court Areas for the purpose of equity and justice which has strictly been adhered and as the next polls beckons, there is an overwhelming generational choice of emerging new political czars to take new strides of being at the apex of effective leadership and speak with pride for a people widely known for their massive intellects and united ideologies in governance.
The emergence of Honorable Inemesit Ubokudom as a clear favourite for the seat of Nsit Ibom State Constituency in the next generation of leaders and lawmakers at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has continued to generate and attract more commendations and attract more positive perspectives likewise endorsement from various stakeholders whom many have come to identify with as a next generation bridge builder whose grassroots mass appeal and wealth of political experience the third tier of government gives him a comparative edge as the front runner for the ticket of Nsit Ibom State Constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in August.
Inem as he is fondly called by friends and associates seeks a new political re-orientation in driving the new set targets of attracting development to Nsit Ibom State Constituency and his profile of having served as Councillor, Mbiaso Ward One and Deputy Leader of the Council Legislature gives him a pre-requisite political experience in lawmaking and takes a bold step of faith into the State Legislature with a wealth of political experience in lawmaking and with projections of being an integral team player in the success story of the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration , a leader he admires and proudly supports in all seasons.
As a Councillor in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, his philanthropy remains unprecedented till date as one of his strongest focal strengths has endeared him to the people till date. Yours truly recalls his empowerment programme in 2013 as a then Councillor empowered three indigenes with one Toyota Corolla Saloon Car, One Honda Civic Car and One Audi 80 Saloon car, ten motorcycles, vocational training for the youths in driving, furniture making, building and welding as well as in fashion designing.
He also as a public officer worthy of emulation encouraged his people from the women and the youths in giving capital to encourage them in the promotion and sustenance of small scale businesses within the communities as well as improve socio-economic activities and improve their livelihood.
His empowerment programme has remained till date even with the challenging economic recession has remained focused in touching lives and keeping hope alive that the future holds more dividends for his Constituents.
For three years every December 26 as Councillor, Honorable Inemesit Ubokudom shared the yuletide with his community with much goodwill to his people through the distribution of foodstuffs and other welfare needs to his people.
A close encounter with Inem clearly shows a leader who has an insight of what leadership as a lawmaker entails as he speaks passionately about his people with clear emphasis that politics is all about serving the people with integrity, building trust and having a template of God’s wisdom as a guiding principle in all his schedules.
‘’ I am aspiring for the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 2019 to represent Nsit Ibom State Constituency with a template to chart a new course that will inspire our generation of leaders and bring the Government closer to my people and this new process of having new leaders will open new vistas of development for my State Constituency’’, Honorable Inemesit Ubokudom said.
‘’ I believe that leadership must be seen from new perspectives of content delivery with wholesome contributions that will give governance reflective faces at the grassroots and being a servant leader with a mandate means that one must strive to ensure that every promise made is kept towards meeting the set goals of my manifesto which is in line with the party’s manifesto, the Peoples Democratic Party’’ he said.
‘’ With a vibrant legislature like what we have in Akwa Ibom State today, I strongly believe that in 2019, my representation will add more value in the success story of the second term of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration and we will work in synergy in achieving our modest goals’’ , Inem disclosed.
‘’ I have been tested as a Councillor and I delivered. The records of my achievements are evident for all to see. I am coming as representative who will be accessible to his people, listen to their challenges and speak with a voice that will offer a better political relevance to Nsit Ibom State Constituency. I am certain the people are ready for this renaissance and new dawn that beckons’’ he said.
Apart from his empowerment programmes, Inemesit Ubokudom has consistently ensured that the youths of his area have been engaged in various social activities and has been sponsoring a football competition running into thousands of Naira each year among the various communities which has continued to attract rave reviews and commendations.
‘’ I believe in the Youths. I represent this generation in their leadership and in our different offices , we must show character at all times. In engaging the youths in any form, we must show that the future holds much hope end esteem for them to succeed as we all know that any nation without the growth of the youths is doomed.’’ Inemesit Ubokudom disclosed.
‘’ Not only football, we will continue to promote sports development in other sports on Nsit Ibom State Constituency as we build on discovering and promoting future champions’’.
An award winner from different respectable organisations including the Award of Excellence as Best Councillor of the Year 2012-2015, Inem continues to work harder each day spreading his depth of love and human kindness beyond the shores of his community.
‘’ Service to humanity is a sustained course and this accolades inspire me to do more. Daily, the challenges are bigger but the choice to identify with the people and stand by their needs remains sacrosanct and it must be collective as humans to stand by one another to make our society better. My efforts will remain steadfast in giving my best to the people of Nsit Ibom State Constituency’’, Inem stated.
Honoarable Inemesit Ubokudom brings a strong intellectual content into politics as he holds a Degree in Agriculture and is happily married with four children.
For the people of Nsit Ibom State Constituency, the budding path of a new dawn has found a light in a new leader whose profile and humane approach remains a cardinal feature that will shape the new dynamics of the polity.
It is evident that the people of Nsit Ibom State Constituency have beamed their search light on Inemesit Ubokudom and as we await this history of the new ladder of leadership he walks with confidence and certainty, there must be an overwhelming belief that his mandate will offer a brighter horizon not only for Nsit Ibom State Constituency from 2019 but Akwa Ibom State and Legislature in the ideology of the greater Akwa Ibom Project.
